★ Possibility as a novel cerebral ischemia diagnostic marker ★
We identified OPN (Osteopontin) which is closely related to the severity of the stroke,
the prediction of the storke and the progress of the stroke, and aims to put it into practical use
as a diagnostic screen along with its detection technology.
♢ Process of new marker discovery ♢
Screening gene expression of rat cerebral ischemia model
with DNA chip (Hit hundreds of candidates.)
↓
Identificaton of genes that were promoted(Hit a dozen candidates.)
↓
Select secretory gene(Hit several candidates.)
Measure blood level of protein mass of OPN
↓
Identify of a new marker
◆ Feature ◆
1. A candidate of diagnostic marker rises rapidly within 1 hour after the onset
of cerebral infarction.
It can be a very important signal to start treatment.
2. It was suggested that the rising of a candidate diagnostic marker correlates
with the degree of pathology of cerebral infarction.
3. A candidate diagnostic marker is suggested to rise not only in cerebral infarction
but also in other ischemic diseases. ( angina pectoris, myocardial infarction,
arteriosclerosis etc. )
