MAM ( Mitochondria-associated ER membranes )
MAM is associated with the role of lipuid metabolism, calcium homeostasis, and maintaining mitochodrial function. For this reason, MAM is attracted attention in relation to neurological diseases such as
Alzheimer's disease , Parkinson's disease and ALS (amyotrophic lateral scleereosis).
In addition to the above, endoplasmic reticulum stress has been suggest the relationship with metabolic diseases (such as diabetes and obesity),
cardiovascular diseases (such as arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction, hypertension and renal disease),
and cancer cell proliferation and metastasis.
